The Study Circle was founded in 1953 to further the study of all aspects of OFS and ORC philately and to publish the results. Although meetings are held at least twice a year, both in the UK and abroad (see Information sheet), due to the world-wide spread of membership the chief communication medium is the Orange Free State Bulletin. Of approximately 24 pages it is issued quarterly and contains articles by members, questions and answers, meeting reports, membership changes and much other useful information. Past Bulletins can be supplied, so far as they may still be available. Postal auctions are held regularly subject to sufficient material being offered.

Three handbooks have been published entitled "Stamps of the Orange Free State" by G D Buckley and W B Marriott and details of these and other publications are on the Information sheet.

The links to the Postal History, Stamps and Stationery are designed to give you a taste of the philatelic attractions that the Orange Free State has to offer.

If you already collect Orange Free State, or perhaps would like to start, please do complete the Application and submit it to the Honorary Secretary: J.R. Stroud, 24 Hooper Close, Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, TA8 1JQ, UK. Whether your interest is in the stamps, the stationery, the postal history or the "back of the book", we are sure your needs will be satisfied.
